The 40k is the first expensive service interval. Last I checked, DIY the DSG service for about $120 and oil change, fuel, air, and cabin filters for another $100 in parts. IMHO, $220 is inexpensive, if you DIY.

7yd7nd. The preamble: 2015 Golf Sportwagen, bought April 2017 new - one of the held back models until the legal stuff was organized. Had oil change completed at dealer January 2018 at 11000km. Dealer puts sticker on car - oil change due June 2018 - 23,000 km. Car has as of today July 2018- 18,000km on car. Get a call from dealer today
That interval only changed for the 7 speed DSG units in mk7.5's. The 6 speed DSG Is still 40k kms. The 7 Speed DSG fluid change is also more expensive, which doesn't make sense as it's the same process
I use a specialty German shop that deals in nothing bu VW, Audi, BMW, etc. They do all of my oil changes, they did my APR tune and intake install, and I had them do my DSG service at 43K as well. If I remember correctly I paid just over 200 bucks for the DSG service. I'd find a shop like this if you aren't going to use a VW dealer.
Step 3. Lower the car, lift the bonnet and disconnect the battery . 2 @10mm. Pull the battery fleece off (if fitted) Undo the battery retaining clamp. 1@13mm and remove the battery ( the battery tray has lips at the nearside edge so if leaning over the wing, lift and push away from you to disengage. Step 4.
Wipe the transmission where the oil pan and filter mate to it. Put some clean ATF on the new cork filter and install it. Tighten the filter bolts to 7 newton meters. New filter installed: Put the new gasket on the oil pan, including the metal spacers in the holes, and rub some clean ATF on it, then bolt it in place.
